IPv4 Address Prices

IPv4 addresses used to be valued at about US $11 each. But that was before the RIRs had run out of more addresses to allocate. Prices rose to about US $60 per address in 2021 but have settled down to a range of between US $30 and US $40 each in 2024.

  • IPv4 addresses cost between US $30 and US $40 each to buy in 2024. The price varies based on both demand and the size of the address block. Smaller blocks get a lower per-address price.
  • LACNIC’s paper based transfer process takes longer and this can give LACNIC addresses a slightly lower per- address price.
  • IPv4 addresses can be leased for about US 40¢ per month.

The per address value is higher for larger blocks. So a /16 (65,536 addresses) generally commands a higher per address value than a /17 (32,768 addresses). But prices vary depending on several factors. The price in an auction depends on who’s willing to bid.

Prices might also reflect the time taken to process transfers, with LACNIC’s paper based process discounting the value of addresses sourced there.

Each address commands a little over US 40¢ each month. Lessors generally have to pay a deposit and some setup fees as well as the monthly charge.
